Thursday Thoughts 3

- Man, oh, man have I tried some great recipes from the blog world lately. Some of my favourites? This mac 'n' cheese, this Samoa protein shake, this copycat WF salad...amazing.
- I am super looking forward to my birthday weekend trip to Seattle with the bestie this weekend. Not just for the trip but also for the chance to scour US supermarket aisles for food products we can't get this side of the border (it's weird what I get excited about). Like finally picking up some of this Arctic Zero protein ice cream I've been hearing about...!
WIAW: Snacks and Soup!
This is everything in my WIAW. A lot...a lot of snacky things. Looking at this made me realize what I had only half noticed otherwise: I'm in a really snacky mood lately. You know how sometimes it takes writing down what you do every day to notice behavioural patterns? I am now noticing how, this past week especially, I've been eating a lot of snacks and fewer large meals. As I'm not in the States, I can't blame this on the aftermath of stuffing myself silly on Thanksgiving. It might just be that with weather getting cooler, I feel like I need to be eating more often (do you like how I just justified that?). Or maybe with all the Christmas goodies floating around I realized - subconsciously, of course! - that if I eat smaller meals I can fit in more treats :). Either way, thanks to Jenn as always for hosting and let's get this party started...!
A Very ‘Bloggy’ Dinner Party, Featuring Butternut Squash Risotto and Balsamic Roasted Veggies
One of the things I love the most about blogging is the blog community. I've shared that before, especially in posts like the monthly feature I began in October, Blog Love. I don't feel like the blogging world is competitive or filled with envy or bloggers trying to 'one-up' the others. To me, it's an encouraging atmosphere, where we learn from each other and cheer each other on through good and bad times - and recipes! When another blogger adapts one of our recipes, we're thrilled at their creativity rather than irritated that they didn't use ours word-for-word. Well, I had friends over for dinner last Saturday and what I loved most about it was adapting and using some recipes from some of my favourite blogs, combining those recipes with my own, and putting together a menu that would impress while still being healthy and, of course, vegetarian and naturally sweet.
