Thursday Thoughts 2

You guys all really seemed to like my first Thursday Thoughts post last week and we got some great discussions going! Seeing as, well, I have a lot of thoughts in a week, I thought I’d continue it.

Food Thoughts:

  • Food holidays – I love ’em, as does any food blogger, because – on the rare occasion that I remember to look them up – they give us something to blog about when we’re fresh outta ideas. Today, for example, is National Macaroon Day, apparently. No, I have no macaroon recipes on the blog. But here are some great posts about macaroons and featuring macaroon recipes: check out Gillian here, and the master of healthy macaroon making – Kris – here, here and here. You guys had your Macaroon Day fill now? Good, let’s continue.
  • Salad-a-Day May – who knew? Apparently May is National Salad Month – or something like that. And it’s also the month I planned my Salad-a-Day Challenge. Honestly, not deliberate. But maybe I should pretend it was?

Birthday Thoughts:

  • My birthday isn’t until July 1st (my sister’s, however, is tomorrow!). But does anyone else get birthday planning anxiety? Where all of a sudden they realize their birthday is coming up and that means the pressure is on to plan something awesome or resign yourself to celebrating your birthday by … well, not celebrating it? It’s kinda like the New Year’s Eve pressure. I threw a big party last year (pictured above) so this year I think I’ll keep it simple, but I haven’t come up with any ideas … yet …

Career Thoughts:

  • I really envy those people who have known their whole lives what they wanted to do for a career. I always knew what I didn’t want to do. And I knew I wanted to be a writer, but really, that’s not a job as such, as much as I’ve tried to make it one. I feel like, at 26, I’m still working out what I want to be when I grow up. Yikes! News flash: I’m grown up. Better get on with that…
Pinterest Thoughts:

  • This was all getting a bit deep, so let’s switch tacks here for a second…I of course wasted too much time this week on Pinterest. My top faves?
  • Here for the ultimate in wedding photo cuteness.
  • Here for the ultimate in (sweet) hors d’oeuvres cuteness.
  • Here for the ultimate in cookie dough cuteness (because cookie dough is a category in and of itself, of course).
  • Here for the ultimate in summer style cuteness (and isn’t that that girl who used to be on Gossip Girl?)

Childhood Throwback Thoughts:

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogs

  • We all got so nostalgic over The Oregon Trail last week, but what about pogs??? This might be met with silence and the sound of crickets chirping, as I’m not sure if these were only popular in England. However, I played with them in Cayman too and we are very influenced by the States, so I’m thinking they were popular in the US too? I remember having my ‘slammers’ and ‘pogs’ and trading them with friends for better ones – so funny, because I still don’t remember what the point of the game was!
Ooh and come back tomorrow for the spaghetti squash lasagna recipe I promised you yesterday ;). Nothing wrong with ending a post on some shameless self-promotion, right?QUESTIONS:

  • Do you get birthday planning anxiety?
  • Have you always known what you wanted to ‘be’ when you grew up?
  • Did you play with pogs growing up?
  • What’s a Thursday Thought of your own you want to share?

Oh my goodness yes I get birthday planning anxiety! This month was my 40th and I refused up until the last minute to plan anything in case it wasn’t good enough, and what if no one came? In the end my husband planned a big party and it was awesome.

oohh birthday planning anxiety…I plan about two months ahead & try to make sure there are AT LEAST 2 or 3 celebrations, haha. This year I also threw a surprise birthday party for Dallas that was a lot of fun 🙂 Have fun at your sister’s birthday!

haha the career choices…for most of growing up, I wanted to be a teacher. Then I wanted to be a model. Then a teacher again. Then a photographer. Then, after graduation, I gave up on school for 4 years. Then I went back to do what I do now (Educational Assistant & Community Support Worker). Love it, but wanted more…went back for Child & Youth Care. STILL not what I wanted, lol. Now I’m in Psychology and FINALLY feeling like I’ve figured it out. And I’m 25. You’re not the only one 😉

I am new to your blog and how cute 🙂 You sure do think a lot on Thursdays… That’s a good thing!
    1. Can you believe I’ve never had a macaroon! After all the craze in the blog world, I’m dying to try one!
    2. I love salads come mid may. But my salad a day really sets in June and July 🙂
    3. I haven’t planned a birthday party in a while, but oh boy, I’m imagining a fourth or third the planning of a wedding with a very short planing span. And that I can imagine provides anxiety!
    4. Who says you are grown up 😉
    5. Once I publish this comment, I am definitely going to click on that link for wedding photo cuteness! I need to collect all my ideas!

Such a cute post Anna! I love party planning, but when it comes time to plan my own I do get anxious. I don’t know if I’m supposed to throw myself a giant party :p, it just seems like something that someone else would do? I don’t know. But, I can totally relate to always knowing that you’ve wanted to be a writer! I remember writing my first short story when I was 5 and from then, I knew that writing would always be an important part in my life. I’ve gone through so many different career choices from professional ballerina to world traveler to entrepreneur, and now I am aiming at majoring in journalism and eventually owning my own magazine company! I remember when I was little I always told myself that if I didn’t know what to do, I’d just become an astronaut!

Anyhoo, I really did enjoy this fun post! I’ll check back tomorrow for that recipe!

    Meg

Yay 🙂 So happy to see Thursday Thoughts again! I love them babe!!

I totally played with pogs! HAHA! Good times. I get birthday planning anxiety too. Not really “planning” anxiety, but it’s like I really rather just not do anything, so I just get those thoughts like “am I lame for not wanting to do anything??” Haha. My birthday is this month, so I’ll be having those thoughts soon!
