What I Ate Wednesday Tag

Yesterday I covered the appetizers I made in advance - which was most of them, as I was making the whole Christmas Day meal on the day, so all the better to get the appetizers out of the way! However, I left the dips for the crispy quinoa cakes, pita chips, crudites, olives and other snackeroos to the day of so they'd be ultra fresh! The trio of dips I laid out (you can see them in the top right corner of the picture below) were, from left, naturally-sweetened cranberry sauce (this was also served with the meal), vegan garlic aioli and vegan roasted red pepper sauce (click for the recipe, as it was previously posted).

This is everything in my WIAW. A lot...a lot of snacky things. Looking at this made me realize what I had only half noticed otherwise: I'm in a really snacky mood lately. You know how sometimes it takes writing down what you do every day to notice behavioural patterns? I am now noticing how, this past week especially, I've been eating a lot of snacks and fewer large meals. As I'm not in the States, I can't blame this on the aftermath of stuffing myself silly on Thanksgiving. It might just be that with weather getting cooler, I feel like I need to be eating more often (do you like how I just justified that?). Or maybe with all the Christmas goodies floating around I realized - subconsciously, of course! - that if I eat smaller meals I can fit in more treats :). Either way, thanks to Jenn as always for hosting and let's get this party started...!

Happy Thanksgiving for my neighbours to the south for tomorrow! For this week's What I Ate Wednesday (thanks to Jenn for hosting!), I thought I would combine it with my monthly feature, Blog Love, in which I link up some of the recipes that have tempted me from my blogroll this month. As it's Thanksgiving tomorrow, I thought I'd choose posts featuring recipes I would love to eat this Thanksgiving, if I was living in the US (heck, maybe I'll just have a second Thanksgiving up here all on my lonesome ;)!). So this isn't a What I Ate Wednesday, but rather a What I Want to Eat Thanksgiving post. Does that work? :)
