Better than Ice Cream Protein Shake

Better-than-Ice-Cream Chocolate Protein Shake

Hi all!

As I am still recovering from eye surgery, things are a little blurry over here (literally), so I have to use today’s post to direct you over to Naturally Sweet Recipes, where yesterday I guested! As soon as I can see again I’ll update this post with the recipe. (**UPDATE: I added it! I hope it doesn’t have too many typos. Still not seeing very well!)

Better than Ice Cream Protein Shake

And yes, there you will find the most DELICIOUS chocolate protein shake I’ve ever made. I am so addicted to this I’ve been having it on a daily basis for weeks now. I promise you it tastes just like melted ice cream. Ridiculous. See? I even tweeted about it the first day I made it, I just couldn’t believe how good it was:

It’s actually good for you too! Cocoa powder provides the chocolate flavour and we all know the benefits of cocoa powder! Sure, I could be using my protein shakes as a chance to  get in extra fruit or veg by having a green smoothie or a fruit shake, but I get lots of produce elsewhere in my diet and to be honest, I go through phases like this where I love something so much that I scarf it down and then later on I am so sick of it I have to completely abstain from it for weeks before I love it again.

Am I the only one like that? Yikes.

Anyway, have a great day! I’ve lined up a post to take care of you on Monday and then who knows, maybe by then I’ll be able to see again to post (I have a back-up post lined up just in case I can’t…promise!).

Tastes-Like-Ice-Cream Chocolate Protein Shake (originally posted in my guest post on Naturally Sweet Recipes here)
INGREDIENTS (serves 1):
1/4 cup low-fat canned coconut milk
1/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
3-5 ice cubes
1 scoop protein powder (mine provides 24g protein a scoop, so if you use one with less/more protein adjust the nutritional info accordingly)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1-2 stevia packets (to taste) or liquid sweetener of choice (1-2 tsp agave, honey, maple syrup etc)
DIRECTIONS:
1.      Add everything to a blender and blend till smooth! It’s that easy. Enjoy!
*Note: if you want to get a breakfast-sized shake at about 250 cals, just increase the coconut milk and Greek yogurt to 1/3 cup each and leave everything else the same!

they weren’t actually vision related surgeries. I had an eye that turned outwards so had to have the muscles shortened to fix the problem. But the first two times were when I was quite young and my eyes drifted back over the years. The final op I had a couple years ago went well and all is corrected. I should have been more clear! How are you healing anyway? xo
