Recommendations: Tara Stiles Yoga
From time to time I want to share some awesome products or resources that I have either discovered or been told about, and that are just too good to keep to myself.
Please note – these are entirely separate from situations like giveaways, where the company is sponsoring the giveaway (and even in giveaways, when I am reviewing the product my opinions are entirely my own!).
However, these ‘recommendation’ posts are not endorsed in any way and I will always be upfront if I am affiliated with the company at all (usually, however, I won’t be).
In this case, I am not affiliated with Tara Stiles at all, and chances are many of you have heard of her already as she’s a pretty big name in the ‘online yoga’ world. However, in case you haven’t heard of her, or in case you haven’t given her videos a try, I thought I’d share my thoughts!
There are many yoga teachers I love – both in my local studios and online. I have never been someone who finds one person and follows them like a sheep – I really like a ‘buffet’ to choose from so I can go with whatever teaching style matches my mood that day.
With Tara Stiles, one of my goals this year was to ensure that I do some kind of movement first thing in the morning. I’m not a great morning exerciser – I am not a morning person, period – so I didn’t have any illusions about suddenly rushing to the gym before work every morning. However, I often wake up quite stiff due to same back issues I have, and I then go and sit at a computer all day. The result? My back just gets worse, and my mood gets worse with it.

She has tons of quick morning routines so you’ll never get bored, but here is one of my favourites:
She also has a great one for the morning which is exactly what I need – making room in your body, and increasing flexibility in the morning:
These will never take up tons of your time, and yet your stiffness will vanish and you will feel more relaxed and rejuvenated to start your day. I owe Tara Stiles a lot for helping me stay on track with my morning-movement goal so far this year!
Oh, and her channel also has lots of yummy and healthy quick recipes too…really, check it out!
Update: In September 2014 on a trip to New York, I got to take one of Tara’s classes at her studio, Strala Yoga, and meet her. She was just as kind, serene and welcoming as you’d imagine!
